Abstract
The issuance of the Corporate Governance Guide for banks by the Central Bank of Iraq is one of the most important organizational steps for the banking sector and to ensure the application of best practices for executive management in banks and to guarantee the rights of the parties interacting with the bank. It is an important step to keep pace with global requirements to attract and encourage investment. Local regulations and legislation, such as the Companies Law and the Banking Law, and these legislations are in compliance with local requirements only and not international ones.
The model applied in the research sample is an extract of the paragraphs that work to implement the principles of governance, which were extracted from the aforementioned guide and laws that regulate the work of banks, where 50 paragraphs were reached and distributed into four axes, the results reached are good ratios for Iraqi banks and their limited activity.
